Where this stone was born
Mozambique is the newest great name in ruby. In 2009, a major ruby deposit was found in Montepuez, in the north of the country. Within a few years it became one of the most important ruby sources in the world, and the largest in production today. Its stones range from pinkish to deep crimson, and the best of them stand next to rubies from classic sources. This 1.23 ct emerald cut shows the deep crimson of that source.
